The Childe is a unique persona amongst K'Tri society as it is both a title and an individual. The Childe is the figurehead of the Fidellian clan, as well as a product of selective pairings within the clan. At birth, the Childe receives the memories of all its ancestors, going back as far as the dawn of K'Tri civilization.

The weights of this past, coupled with the Childe's own psionic abilities have a heavy toll on their mind. This generation's Childe suffers more than most of her predecessors as she not only has the knowledge of all of K'Tri history, but also potent clairvoyant abilities that allow her to see far into the future. Because of this, K'Tri leaders often seek the Childe's advice on important matters, although the answers she offers may not be what they necessarily want to hear. However the responses given are not always the final outcome, but the results of the choices made by the individuals.

The current Childe is guarded fiercely by two Guardians appointed by the Fidellian clan, Ignatius and Khilara. They are the only two to be allowed to see the Childe when not acting in her duties, as well as on her own, albeit limited, personal time. These two are with her at all times, until the day of the Childe's Sacrifice, when she gives her life to her heir.
