Miria Windrider, the heir to the Atalyan throne, is a deceptively complex woman whose life has been touched by both incalculable blessings and unfathomable anguish in equal measure.

The youngest daughter of King Teo Windrider and Queen Alera Mourningsong, Miria claimed the title of heir apparent after her older sister Nadira, was bypassed due to her abilities as an empathic psion. She has been groomed for her future throne since birth, with no expense spared on both her formal or social education.

After the death of their mother, Miria and her sister Nadira grew exceptionally close to their father, and one or both was always at his side. The three travelled the breadth of Clydira together, often spending weeks at a time immersed in the different cultures of the world. During this time, Miria proved herself a masterful diplomat, and it was often assumed that she had some minor level of empathic psionic ability. However, the marks never appeared, and so she was allowed to maintain her title as heir to the throne.

Shortly before her twentieth birthday, Miria was introduced to Kenneth Ferrall, the man who would become, after a very long and convoluted courtship, her husband. Together they welcomed their son Adaf into the world, and life was good until Nadira's murder.

After her sister's death, Miria and Kenneth adopted her daughter Naiomi, so as to ensure her safety within the royal family. Only a few months younger than Adaf, Naiomi was raised with the same level attention as the next heir to the throne, only with the addition of psionic tutoring. Initially, Miria and Naiomi were close, but as the years went on and especially after Miria and Kenneth had their own biological daughter, Tara, their relationship grew strained. Miria began to dote on Tara, and now, years later, her and Naiomi's once strong bond has all but vanished.
