The man known as Thaddeus Sorrowsong has a very rich and sordid history. While of Atalyan blood, he and his family were part of a troupe of wandering Fetelles minstrels, who endlessly toured the Clydiran lands. It was during one such excursion into the Atalyan capital of Delos that Thaddeus met his future wife Nadira, and both of their fates were forever sealed.

They lived a life of joy together and had a beautiful daughter, Naiomi. However this bliss was destroyed with the brutal slaying of Nadira. Naiomi, no more than a toddler, retaliated against the attackers, reciprocating the brutality of her mother's death in equal measure. However, this left Thaddeus, incapacitated at the time, and Naiomi the sole survivors, and the young girl the instrument of death to multiple individuals. Rather than subjecting his child to the harsh punishment for individuals found guilty of committing psionic crimes, Thaddeus plead in her place. His abilities were unsuccessfully stripped time and time again, until Dymar Nightstalker was summoned to finally complete the mental execution. The process subsequently shattered Thaddeus' mind, leaving little more than a functioning shell in the place of a once powerful and loving man.

Dymar delivered his body to the Kaitafiken penal clan, where Thaddeus was to serve out the remainder of his sentence in isolation from the rest of civilized culture. Over time, Thaddeus' mind has gradually been healing, but large gaps of memory are missing, the process much like trying to piece together a shattered panel of glass. Often Thaddeus is subjected to incapacitating headaches, further limiting his moments of lucidity and progression to reclaiming the full function of his mind.
