K'Tri

The K'Tri are a collection of seemingly disparate ta'kala, or clans, that share a common history and familial ties. They are believed to long ago have shared a common ancestor with the elves, or vice versa, due to many K'Tri having long elvish ears and a relatively similar physical structure, although the extent to which this varies is enormous.

The K'Tri have a very elaborate set of creation myths all of which revolve mainly around the concept of the Ascendants. Each of these individuals, eight in total, is claimed to be responsible for the creation of their respective clan, and for much of K'Tri history each Ascendant was worshipped in an almost godlike fashion within that clan. This has been replaced within the last millennia or so by the elvish religious concept of Et'vori, but the founding Ascendants are still held in great reverence

K'Tri are a very sociable race, but they tend to commune mainly with those of their own clans, both in terms of platonic relationships as well as sexual. The clans CAN in fact breed amongst one another, but many clans consider this blasphemous. This idea of the forbidden relationships has resulted in a breakdown of the ta'kala into three distinct varieties: Ket'bani, Mek'bani and Tem'baka.

Ket'bani are the "true" or "pure" blood clans, its members all sharing the same general physical type and breed "true". The clans that consider themselves ket'bani are the Atalyans, Celosians, Fetelles, Nosferatus and Terratus clans.

Mek'bani are "mixed" blood K'Tri. The Masombrian are the only real mek'bani clan, but one does not have to be a member of that clan to be considered "mek'bani". Indeed, the term is often used as a slur against those who have mixed heritage.

Tem'baka clans are "mixed body", and consist of the Kaitafiken and Fidellian clans. These ta'kala are made up of individuals who can be either one of the preceding types, but either by choice or punishment have renounced their blood heritage and have become associated with either clan. Again, this term can and is often used as a slur, especially against those in the Kaitafiken clan.

The common practice for the K'Tri who had children with a member of another clan was once banishment, for both parents and child. However, most clans do not practice this anymore (the exceptions being the Celosian and Nosferatus clans) as they view it as antiquated an barbaric. That is not to say that the old stigmas aren't attached to those who perpetrate this act, just they are no longer evicted from the clan.

Most of recorded K'Tri history has generally been peaceful, aside from the occasional fighting amongst the clans regarding territorial boundaries and the like. There exception to this is the War of Subjugation, a conflict that has been considered mythological for millennia, as no evidence of any such large scale warfare or Andulan society has ever been found.
